DETAILS
DETAILS
EHF serves as the governing umbrella body for handball in Europe. The federation is committed to supporting the transition of the continent’s most talented players into professional playing careers.
As part of the EHF Master Plan, the Respect Your Talent programme is a flagship federation initiative dedicated to the holistic development needs of young athletes, ensuring their skill development off the court is prioritized alongside their sporting ambitions.
A new type of training
Together, EHF and TWIN developed a programme that elevates the concept of role models: the world’s best handball players inspire and instruct Europe’s talents. Since the programme start in 2019, more than 2.000 aspiring athletes across the continent have learned through Respect Your Talent (status: summer 2025).
The programme activities encompass a series of physical and digital formats:
- Respect Your Talent Camp
- Player of the Match Events
- Respect Your Talent App
- Ambassador Sessions
- Train-the-Trainer Workshops
Recognizing that player development on supranational sport federation level needs a scalable and professional foundation, the EHF engaged TWIN to co-create the definitive structure and content for Respect Your Talent. This collaboration successfully codified youth athlete support into a dependable, multi-faceted programme. Its concept is driven by the influence of established players—the Respect Your Talent Ambassadors—who mentor the next generation.
TWIN’s continuous engagement provides strategic consultancy to ensure this initiative serves as a core pillar of the EHF’s overall talent support system. In detail, we co-developed the comprehensive strategy and educational content for the programme, delivered across diverse physical and digital formats. Our design work focuses on engaging educational components that build crucial competencies for long-term player development, currently spanning key topics like mental fitness, dual career, media literacy, sports law, anti-doping, and nutrition. Furthermore, we deliver athlete workshops in the personal development sphere and provide programme-related training for the staff of handball federations and clubs.
In summary: We were instrumental in transforming the idea of youth player development into a defined strategic priority and international programme. This ensures the European elite handball ecosystem is cultivating future generations of high-performing athletes with a resilient foundation for their personal and professional lives.
